Hodgson Elkington, the East Midlands chartered
surveyors, have launched an innovative initiative
aimed at encouraging junior sports and youth
development primarily in Lincolnshire and
Nottinghamshire.
The Hodgson Elkington Junior Sports Programme
is designed to assist local and regional junior
sporting organisations with a source of sponsorship
funding. This will be for a whole range of
sporting activities and will help with the
provision of equipment such as balls, training
accessories or behind the scene costs.
"The junior sports programme will empower
local junior sports clubs to access another
potential source of sponsorship funds,"
said Simon Stevenson.
A series of local sporting events over the
coming days and weeks to be attended by sports
personalities in both counties will help launch
the scheme. Clubs and organisations are being
specifically encouraged to apply and participate.
To kick off the programme matchballs are
being donated to local and regional rugby
and football sides in Newark, Lincoln, Sleaford
and Nottingham
"As a partnership, we firmly believe
in the character building value that participation
in sport brings to the young people of our
region," said Hodgson Elkington partner,
Sam Elkington.
"If our Junior Sports Programme becomes
over-subscribed with requests for sponsorship,
we would then turn to our existing business
relationships to assist us in this worthwhile
initiative," said partner, Chris Hodgson.
Several of Hodgson Elkington's partners and
staff are already actively involved in the
local sports scene.
Sam Elkington, a former county level rugby
player of repute, now coaches the Lincolnshire
Schools Under 15's and Lincoln Rugby' Club's
Under 13's. Stephen Bradford, having enjoyed
a successful career in minor counties cricket,
currently plays for Sleaford Cricket Club
and the MCC. Tim Shaw, who is a seasoned competitor
at international level in Formula One Hovercraft
racing, has recently joined the firm.
Throughout the remainder of 2002, Hodgson
Elkington hope to be able to sponsor a match
ball, or its equivalent, for the benefit of
junior sports clubs both locally and regionally.
Written sponsorship requests, should be addressed
for the attention of Mr Mike Aspinall at
Hodgson Elkington, 24 Cartergate, Newark,
Notts, NG24 1 UB.
