£20 million
Lincoln development to create 500 jobs
Work has started on a new £20 million
district centre for Lincoln which holds the
prospect of creating 500 new jobs.
Roman Gate, a 9 acre site north of Lincoln
City Centre just a short distance from the
A46 Lincoln Bypass, will include shops, restaurants,
offices, leisure and residential amenities.
The development framework of city based developer
Lindsey Securities Limited has already been
agreed with Lincoln City Council and contractors
have now started constructing the road junction
which paves the way for what will be a major
district centre.
The new development will be linked to neighbouring
retail and commercial properties with footpaths
and cycleways. Traffic navigating the Nettleham
Road area will also benefit at a very early
stage from the new traffic light controls
at the sight entrance opposite the junction
of Lincoln Road/Nettleham Road/Wolsey Way.
This longstanding bottleneck will be cleared
with the road widening and traffic management
systems that are now being put in place, according
to the developer.
“The development brief has now been
approved and we feel sure that everyone in
the locality will benefit from the new facilities
that can now be brought into the area,”
said Lindsey Securities’ director, Robin
Taylor.
“We have already held talks with intending
occupiers, including retailers, professional
firms and a restaurant. We are now looking
for a leisure based business to help provide
balance for the first phase of the development
which will also include residential accommodation,”
said Chris Hodgson, partner, Chris Hodgson
of chartered surveyors, Hodgson Elkington
who are agents for the scheme.
