£1.8m
family pub to create 40 new jobs
A £1.8 million family restaurant with
children's fun factory is to be built at Gateway
Park, the expanding mixed development on the
south-western approach to the city for leisure
operator Whitbread Group Plc.
The Brewsters development, on a 1.2-acre
site fronting the main Newark road close to
the Lincoln bypass interchange, will create
40 full and part time jobs, said Whitbread
acquisition manager, Paula Reed-Smith.
It is due to be opened in May next year and
will be the latest development to take place
on the 18 acre Gateway Park complex being
developed by Temple Garth, a partnership between
Castle Square Developments and the Lindum
Group.
This will be the city's second Whitbread
development. The other being Mill Lodge Brewers
Fayre and Travel Inn at Canwick.
"The decision by Whitbread to bring
this facility to this district underlines
the growth prospects of this part of Lincoln.
It is no coincident that the site is adjacent
to the dual carriageway leading to Newark
" said Stephen Bradford, partner at Hodgson
Elkington, chartered surveyors, agents for
Gateway Park.
"About thirty five per cent of Gatweay
Park has now been developed and we are talking
to several potential occupiers interested
in the remaining twelve acres," said
Mr Bradford.
The Brewsters development will be close to
the south west area of the city and North
Hykeham where 90 acres of land has been earmarked
for residential development.
Gateway Park is being promoted as part of
the Greater Lincolnshire Partnership comprising
Lincoln City Council, North Kesteven and West
Lindsey district councils.
