Metheringham
trading estate fully let
Managing agents and District Council officers
were today celebrating the letting of the
final unit at the Moorlands Trading Estate
in Metheringham.
The series of lettings over the last few
weeks have culminated in the letting of the
final unit to a car valeting business who
this week received the keys from Daniel Race,
a partner with chartered surveyors, Hodgson
Elkington, who are agents for the scheme.
There are 19 units at the Moorlands Trading
Estate that are managed by Hodgson Elkington
on behalf of North Kesteven District Council
and over half were empty when they were instructed
and appointed as managing agents last July. "Through
a proactive marketing campaign we now have
all the units let, which is quite an achievement
in this rural location on the edge of Metheringham," said
Daniel Race.
There is a mix of business activity on the
state including engineering and furniture
manufacturing. "I feel that one of the
main reasons for our success has been the
adoption of a simple tenancy agreement that
provides tenants with rapid occupation and
flexible tenure. They are not required to
sign and be tied into a long lease," added
Mr Race.
"We are delighted to see that Moorlands
is now fully let. I believe that this shows
the importance of providing affordable workshop
space that encourages new business development.
The units are also vital to enhancing the
role of rural service centres such as Metheringham
as places where sustainable economic growth
can be maintained. Our partnership with Hodgson
Elkington is an excellent example of how
the District Council is working successfully
with local companies," said Councillor
Mrs Brighton OBE, leader of North Kesteven
District Council.
Hodgson Elkington manage other developments
for North Kesteven District Council at Whisby
Way, North Hykeham, Hoplands Business Centre
and Navigation Yard, Sleaford, Aubourn and
Swinderby and have other units still available
to let. "We are making good progress
with these and I hope to have the entire
portfolio of 72 units let in the near future, " said
Mr Race.
