Phase two
ready for new business
A Development which could create more than
400 jobs will be officially opened on Friday.
Phase Two of £5 million office park
The Point at Weaver Road in Lincoln will
be opened by Lincoln MP Gillian Merron. The point is already home to 10 new businesses
which have created more than 100 jobs. More
businesses have already signed up to move
into the second phase.
Phase Two was completed in 18 weeks and provides
a headquarters building of more than 5,300
sq ft and three smaller two-storey building
each of approximately 2,070 sq ft.
Recruitment specialist Executive Network,
the first business to occupy an office in
phase one of the development has been the
first to acquire larger office accommodation
in phase two.
“It is a measure of the success of
The Point and of Executive network, run by
Russell
Moore, that it has acquired office suite
premises that will be almost three times
larger,” said Hugh Dibley, Bournston
Group’s consultant in charge of The
Point Lincoln development.
North Midland Construction Limited of Sutton
in Ashfield was contractor for Phase Two
and Lincoln-based R Hall Construction Limited,
one of the tenants in Phase One of The
Point, has carried out the brickwork.
Ms Merron said the completion of the latest
phase marked an important development of
The Point and the provision of quality
office accommodation in the growing western
part
of the city.
“The point is certainly being seen
as a draw for jobs and investment and is
contributing
to Lincoln’s vibrant future," She
said.
Land remains available for phase three
and plans are advanced with work scheduled
to
begin in three months time.
Mr Dibley said: “Already two potential
clients are interested in acquiring 14,000
sq ft of space.”
The fact that the first units on Phase
One were built speculatively underlines
the developers’ confidence
in the commercial viability of Lincoln.
Daniel Race, of chartered surveyors,
Hodgson Elkington, said: “A speculative development
of this size was a brave move for Bournston
but its confidence in the commercial property
market and in the whole of the Lincolnfields
area has been born out by the success of
this scheme.”
The Point is on a 3.3 acre site close
to the Lincoln bypass and will be the
largest
office park in Lincoln. The Point is already the home to several
businesses including recruitment specialist
Executive network, R Hall Construction Limited,
APSS, Higgins Agriculture Limited, Anadigm
Limited, Stasys Limited, John Halton Design
and The National Care Standards Commission.
