Gold medal
for Junior Sports Programme competitor
Andrew Haigh has just returned from Athens
and the Junior World Championships where participants
in the big-boat events saw their craft being
swamped by rolling waves in gales gusting
to over 30 knots.
Andrew was rowing for the British VIII who
won the prestigious event in a performance
that moved them up two seats on the United
States and Russia.
This was the first time since 1968 that a
British VIII had crossed the line first in
the official world championships.
