Pop lacrosse
On Tuesday 21 st October 2003, North Kesteven
Sports Centre hosted the inaugural North
Kesteven Pop-lacrosse tournament.
The tournament comprised of six teams, made
up from three primary schools in the district.
They were Bassingham Primary School, Bracebridge
Heath St Johns Primary School and Waddington
Redwood Primary School.
The closely fought tournament was won after
a series of very skilful, competitive matches
by the Waddington Redwood Primary School,
who beat Bassingham Primary School in the
final.
The tournament came about after a series
of coaching sessions delivered in the schools
by Mike Aspinall and it is hoped to run the
tournament each term to follow on from the
coaching programmes that are planned each
term for schools in the district.
The tournament sponsors, East Midlands Chartered
Surveyors and Estate Agents, Hodgson Elkington
kindly donated a winner's trophy and also
medals for the winners and runners-up to
take home, which the Sports Outreach Team,
along with the schools were very grateful
for.

the district and it is excellent to see so
many children taking part in pop lacrosse
through the Sports Outreach Team and our
Junior Sports Programme.”

many children from the district taking part
in a reasonably new sport to the area. It
is hoped that we can develop the programme
further and allow the tournament to grow
even bigger. I would personally like to thank

of the event and also Mike Aspinall for his
commitment to developing pop lacrosse in
the district.”
